Head of the Competitions Committee of the Iraqi Football Association (IFA), Haider Aufi, confirmed that the main goal of the Gulf Cup is to restore social cohesion among the people of the Arab Gulf.
Aufi said Today Monday, to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "sport has become one of the most important activities that are included in the work of countries and institutions in the world as one of the means of transmitting cultures and civilizations through the establishment of tournaments and competitions, and this is what we witnessed in Qatar's organization of the 2022 World Cup,” noting that "the main goal of the championship is to restore social cohesion among the people of the Arab Gulf, and its residence in Basra is a successful gesture to lift the sports blockade on the rest of Iraq's stadiums."
Aufi added, "The Arab Gulf Cup Federation decided to assign him to be one of the eight Gulf observers, as an observer was selected from each of the eight participating countries.
He emphasized "we aspire to present the best in Gulf 25in all respects and to work as an integrated system that includes all sports, cultural, political and military sectors in order to make Gulf 25a success.”
