Ministry of Construction, Housing, Municipalities and Public Works of Iraq Benkin Rikani, announced on Wednesday, an agreement with the Ministry of Oil to form a joint committee to support the Baghdad expansion and development project.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Construction, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), said, "Rikani, at the head of an engineering and technical team from the Ministry of Construction, visited the building of the Ministry of Oil, and he was received by Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil Hayan Abdul Ghani, in the presence of a number of directors of departments and teams engineering and technical for the two ministries.
The statement quoted the minister as confirming the agreement to form a joint committee to find appropriate solutions for the lands located within the oil taboos, which it is hoped will be used to implement projects to expand and develop the capital, Baghdad, and the rest of the provinces within the government program.
Rikani explained, according to the statement, that "the projects include expanding the basic design of the city of Baghdad and establishing a number of modern cities and residential complexes and highways, in addition to transportation projects, administrative cities and low-cost homes," praising the cooperation and support of the Ministry of Oil to accomplish these promising projects to serve the citizens."
