The Cabinet issued on Monday, several decisions during its regular session, the 8th, where they discussed the country’s recent updates, and several vital files, in addition to a few topics on the agenda. That resulted in making the most important recommendations and decisions in this regard.
PM Muhammed Shiaa Al-Sudani chaired the session and directed the Ministry of Commerce, in cooperation with the private sector companies supporting the ministry, to prepare food and in-kind aid that includes 22 items, to be distributed among the camps for the IDPs within Nineveh. This aims at supporting vulnerable and needy groups, as well as giving the IDPs the utmost importance, according to a statement by the media office of the Prime Minister received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.
One of the decisions highlighted working on the development of the capital, Baghdad, and to improve its services and that included extending the work of Cabinet Resolutions (377 of 2021 and 214 of 2022) regarding authorizing the Baghdad Municipality to directly implement and divide work for projects to develop shops and streets in the capital within the operating budget for the next fiscal year until the end of 2023.
During the session, a discussion was made regarding Basra Refinery Project - Basra Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC) 4th phase, and its basic requirements, where the Cabinet approved the financing conditions outlined in the letter of the Ministry of Finance No. (11518) dated December 11, 2022. In addition to that, authorizing the Minister of Finance to sign the loan agreement for financing Basra Refinery Project - Basra Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC) 4th phase, funded by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) based on the provisions of Article (5/First) of the Emergency Support for Food Security and Development Law (2 of 2022).
The Cabinet discussed other issues on the agenda, and issued decisions accordingly, among which are the following:
First/ Approving the draft law ratifying the agreement to avoid double taxation and prevent evasion from paying taxes on income and capital between the government of the Republic of Iraq and the government of the Republic of Turkey, which was prepared by the State Council, and sent to the Parliament based on the provisions of Articles (61/ Item First, and 80/ Item Second) of the constitution.
Second/ Approving of the draft law ratifying the Arab Protocol to Prevent and Combat Maritime Piracy and Armed Robbery annexed and complementary to the Arab Convention on Combating Transnational Organized Crime, prepared by the State Council, sent to the Parliament based on the provisions of Articles (61/ item First, and 80/ item Second) from the constitution.
