Immigration Minister Evan Faik Gabro stressed on Sunday, the importance of working to ensure the protection of immigrants' rights.
Gabro said, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), "In celebration of the International Migrants Day, on December 18 of each year, we affirm the continuation of working on what came in the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration which provides an effective framework for international cooperation on governance international migration in all its dimensions."
The statement stressed "the need to work to ensure that the rights of migrants are protected everywhere, and that they are treated fairly," explaining that "the Global Compact for Migration stressed the importance of migrants and refugees enjoying the same universal human rights and fundamental freedoms that must be respected, protected and fulfilled."
