Interior Minister Abdul Amir al-Shammari said on Sunday, that the NATO mission (NMI) had a clear impact on the development of joint relations.
A statement by the ministry received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), said that "Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, met with the commander of NMI, Genera Giovanni Iannucci," noting that "Al-Shammari welcomed at the beginning of the meeting his guest and discussed with him issues of common interest."
Al-Shammari stressed that "the (NMI) had a clear impact on the development of joint relations with the presence of the commander of the mission," stressing "the need to develop, continue and consolidate them."
For his part, General Iannucci stressed "the NATO’s interest in coordinating with the Iraqi side, represented by the Ministry of Interior, in the field of courses and intensifying joint cooperation in security competence and continuing training."
At the end of the meeting, General Iannucci expressed his thanks and appreciation to Minister Al-Shammari and praised the hospitality and good reception.
