The official for freedom of expression projects in UNESCO Iraq, Diaa Al-Saray, launched with the French Chargé d'Affairs in Baghdad, John Christophe, the "Voices of Peace" project to promote coexistence in areas liberated from ISIS through local radio stations in 3 governorates.
A UNESCO statement, which it received, stated The Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the project will adopt intensive training for broadcasters from the governorates (Mosul, Anbar and Salah al-Din) on the concepts of building peace through local radio stations over a period of five days, with live coexistence on Radio Baghdad and Radio Interior.
" The statement added, "The training will focus on to build the capacities of editors, presenters, preparers and radio correspondents with the concepts of conflict and conflict analysis and how to build peace through local radio stations in those governorates and to promote social cohesion, coexistence and social reconciliation.
The statement continued, "UNESCO will implement, for the period 2023-2024, a number of trainings for radio stations in those governorates and the Kurdistan region, followed by a process of launching grants for distinguished radio stations to produce content that takes into account the concepts of peacebuilding in the areas liberated from ISIS, while highlighting the issues of the displaced.
