Oil Ministry plans to increase its oil products in the coming months

    Ministry of Oil pledged on Friday, to increase its products in the coming months.

    The ministry said, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil Hayan Abdul-Ghani, during his visit to the Midlands Refineries Company-MRC, stressed that developing the refining sector is one of the priorities of the governmental program and the future plans, and it enjoys the attention and support of the Prime Minister.”


    He added, "The Minister of Oil discussed with MRC plans to raise its refining capacity to (500 thousand barrels) per day in the year 2026, and disclosed the current production of Doura oil refinery, which amounts to (140 thousand) barrels per day."


    Abdul-Ghani directed MRC management to expedite the development of a study to add new units to Samawah, Diwaniyah, and Najaf refineries, aiming to achieve an increase in production and provide job opportunities for the people of the concerned governorates, stressing on "working in accordance with the requirements of occupational safety and maintaining environmental and public health standards."

    For his part, Director General of MRC, Ayid Jaber, explained that "this visit reflects the interest that the refining sector enjoys in the work and approach of the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Oil and the government," stressing "his company's commitment to the ministry's plans to develop and increase production in a way that achieves the goals and plans of the ministry."
