Al-Sudani decides to dismiss the Director General of ICAA, the Director of Baghdad International Airport

    The Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia'a Al-Sudani, decided to dismiss the Director General of the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority-ICAA and the Director of Baghdad International Airport (BGW), over the two fire incidents.
     
    The media office of the Prime Minister said in a statement, received by the Iraqi news agency(INA)," PM Al-Sudani visited Baghdad international airport and held a meeting with the Minister of Interior, the Head of the National Security Council, the Deputy Head of the Intelligence Service, the Deputy of the Ministry of Interior for Intelligence and Federal Investigations, the Director General of Civil Defense, the Director General of Criminal Investigations at the Ministry of Interior, and the Secretary of the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces.”
     
     
     
    Al-Sudani ordered to dismiss of the following officials: The Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority, the Director of Baghdad International Airport, and the Director of Airport Security, after the two fire incidents in the airport during the past two days. This decision came after His Excellency visited Baghdad International Airport, the statement added.
     
    After listening to a briefing from the officials about the two incidents, Al-Sudani emphasized the need for a follow-up of the investigation to find out the real reasons behind the two incidents that occurred in two days.
     
    Al-Sudani also directed the National Security Council and the Civil Defense Directorate at the Ministry of Interior to conduct an immediate and comprehensive review of the airport's safety system and emergency precautions and to review all security measures applied in all its facilities, halls, and buildings.
     
    PM al-Sudani also ordered the Legal Committee in the Office of the Prime Minister to follow up on the contract procedures for the automatic fire suppression system, which has been unfunctional since 2013, and to identify the individuals responsible.
