The Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority ICAA announced Thursday that a joint committee is investigating the Nineveh Hall fire at Baghdad International Airport.

The Authority spokesman, Jihad Al-Diwan, said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "safety measures at Baghdad Airport are at a high level," noting that "today's fire broke out at dawn; what necessitated the presence of the director of the Civil Aviation Authority, the director of Baghdad Airport, and department managers, the fire was brought under control by the civil defense teams present at the airport, and there were no human losses, only material damage.

He added, "An investigative committee has been formed from the Ministry of Interior and the Civil Aviation Authority to find out the causes of the fire," pointing out that "we cannot accuse any party of this issue, and forensic evidence is available to take fingerprints, and we are awaiting the results of the investigation."

He continued, "It is the competent committees that determine, through the investigation, the culprit in this matter."

It is mentioned that the Civil Defense Directorate put out today, at dawn, a fire that consumed the two-storey Nineveh Hall at Baghdad International Airport, while the Civil Aviation Authority confirmed that the flight schedule at Baghdad International Airport was not affected due to the fire.
