Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority-ICAA issued on Friday, a clarification regarding the crash of a plane belonging to the Ministry of Oil.
A statement by the ICAA, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "some media and social media outlets circulated news about the crash of the helicopter belonging to the Ministry of Oil, as they indicated that the side responsible for the plane is the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority."
"ICAA would like to clarify that the above mentioned aircraft is not registered in the ICAA registry of Iraqi aircraft, as the Air Safety Department of ICAA directed , through official correspondence and meetings with representatives of the Ministry of Oil, to establish the mechanism for registering these aircraft in accordance with the law and instructions of the ICAA and following up on the mechanism of its operation and maintenance by the inspectors of the Aviation Authority, but there was no response to the requirements of the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority by the Ministry of Oil," the statement added.
The statement continued, "These planes were operated without taking the fundamental approvals from the relevant departments of the ICAA."
