MOFA affirms Iraq's keenness to strengthen relations with Kuwait

    The Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein affirmed Iraq's keenness to strengthen relations with Kuwait.

    The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fouad Hussein met on the sidelines of his participation in the preparatory foreign ministers meeting for the Council of the League of Arab States at the summit level in its 31st session, which is taking place in Algeria, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah,” noting that “the bilateral relations between Baghdad and Kuwait and ways to develop them were discussed, and the need to deepen them was emphasized to achieve the interests of the two peoples.”

    He added that "the two ministers discussed the regional and international situation, developments in the region, coordination between Iraq and the Gulf states on international issues, and the developments of the Russian-Ukrainian war, and its repercussions on international relations and the global economy," noting that "the two sides stressed the importance of adopting the principle of dialogue." constructive solution to all outstanding issues between the two brotherly countries."

    He stressed, "Iraq's keenness to strengthen relations with Kuwait on the basis of mutual respect, and in a manner that serves the common interests between the two brotherly peoples."

    For his part, the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister congratulated the minister on the occasion of forming the new government and renewing confidence in him as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq, stressing "his country's desire to develop bilateral relations and consolidate joint cooperation in a way that achieves prosperity and prosperity for the Iraqi and Kuwaiti peoples."

    He expressed the support of the State of Kuwait to the government and people of Iraq, stressing that "the stability of Iraq on the security and political levels is the stability of the State of Kuwait."
