The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Rashid, discussed on Tuesday, with the Turkish ambassador to Iraq, Ali Reza Guney, the joint bilateral relations between the two neighborly countries.
“President Abdullatif Jamal Rashid met with the Turkish Ambassador to Iraq, Mr. Ali Reza Guney, The meeting took place at al-Salam Palace in Baghdad,” the Presidency of the Republic said in a statement, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
At the outset of the meeting, Mr. Guney conveyed the greetings and the best words of congratulations from President Erdogan to President Rashid on getting the first term in power as Iraq's new President, bilateral relations between the two neighbors were also discussed during the meeting.
President Rashid affirmed, "The importance of fostering economic growth, and trade cooperation as well as in other fields of collaboration".
The Turkish Ambassador, in turn, reiterated Turkey's commitment to helping ensure Iraq's security and stability, emphasizing his country's desire to further develop bilateral ties between Iraq and Turkey and strengthen these in the areas of common concern to realize both peoples' aspirations and the two states as well.
