The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, discussed on Saturday, with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the bilateral relations between the two countries and strengthening of bilateral cooperation to achieve stability in the region.
"President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid received a phone call from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan," statement by the Presidency of the Republic, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated.
During the phone call, President Erdogan congratulated the Iraqi President on being elected as Iraq's new President.
Meanwhile, he reiterated Turkey's commitment to the bilateral historical relations with Iraq, to the joint efforts and cooperation to foster stability and economic growth and help ensure the region's security and political stability.
President Abdullatif Jamal Rashid expressed words of gratitude to Erdogan for his kind words of congratulations.
Furthermore, he underscored the importance of the relationship with Turkey, speaking that how best it was to boost these ties across all fields, in ways that would ensure both countries' common interests and ensure progress and prosperity for the citizens of both nations.
