Iraqi President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid received on Saturday, Arab and overseas cables of congratulations.
"Rashid received a congratulatory message from the Prime Minister-designate, Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani on his election as President of the Republic," according to a statement by the Presidency of the Republic, received by the Iraqi News Agency – INA.
A congratulatory cable from the head of the Lebanese Progressive Socialist Party, Walid Jumblatt, was sent to the President on his election as President of the Republic.
“I am pleased to send you congratulations from myself and the Progressive Socialist Party on your election as President of the Republic of Iraq at a critical stage full of challenges, which we are confident that you will be able to work hard to confront it on the path of Iraq’s unity and restoring its stability, as well as adopting the true democracy in it, and ensuring the right of the Iraqi people to a safe life. As we look forward to further cooperation with you for common causes," included the cable.
President Rashid, also received a congratulatory message from French President Emmanuel Macron, saying “We are eager to work closely with you to strengthen our bilateral relationship.”
Another congratulatory cable sent from the Emir of the State of Kuwait, His Highness Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Subah, on the occasion of his election as President of the Republic.
“We are pleased to express to Your Excellency our sincere congratulations for the confidence bestowed upon you by the Parliament on your election as President of the Republic of Iraq. We ask Allah Almighty to guide you and direct your steps for all that is good for the brotherly country and to achieve all that the Iraqi people aspire to in terms of growth, progress and prosperity,” the cable included.
According to the statement, “We take this opportunity to commend the strong relations that bind the State of Kuwait with the brotherly Republic of Iraq, and to emphasize our constant and joint keenness to strengthen the bonds of these relations as to advance the frameworks of joint cooperation between them in various fields to broader horizons in the service of their interests.”
The President of the Republic also received a congratulatory cable from the Deputy Amir and Crown Prince of the State of Kuwait, His Highness Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Subah, on the occasion of his election as President of the Republic.
“I am pleased to send to Your Excellency my sincere congratulations and blessings on the occasion of your election as the President of the brotherly Republic of Iraq,” he expressed, adding “I take this occasion to pay tribute to the close fraternal ties and distinguished relations between the State of Kuwait and the Republic of Iraq, stressing our keenness to enhance prospects for fruitful cooperation at all levels and fields to serve the common interests of our two countries and benefit our two brotherly peoples.”
A congratulatory cable came from the President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping, on the occasion of the election of the President of the Republic of Iraq.
“On behalf of the Government and people of China, also on my own behalf, I would like to express to Your Excellency my sincere congratulations on the occasion of your election,” he said, highlighting “China and Iraq have a historical friendship. In recent years, mutual trust between the two countries has been strengthened on a political level. Practical cooperation in all fields is progressing with balanced steps. I attach great importance to the development of China-Iraq relations, and I am ready to make joint efforts with your Excellency to achieve new progress in the relations of strategic partnership between the two countries, for the good of both countries and peoples.”
President Rashid, also received a phone call from His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan, during which he congratulated him on his election as President of the Republic, wishing His Excellency success in performing his duties, pointing to “the depth of the brotherly and cooperative relations that unite the two countries.”
In turn, the President of the Republic expressed his thanks to the Jordanian monarch for his good feelings, stressing “the need to strengthen bilateral relations between Iraq and Jordan,” in addition to the importance of joint work in the interest of the two brotherly peoples.
