Heads of state, diplomats and embassies operating in Iraq, today, Thursday, congratulated on the occasion of the election of Abdul Latif Rashid as President of the Republic and the assignment of Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani to form the government.
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi sent a congratulatory message to Abdul Latif Rashid on his election as president.
In his telegram, Raisi expressed his hope that "the new Iraqi government will move towards the development and prosperity of Iraq.".
The Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, also sent a telegram on the occasion, wishing Rashid success and payment for everything that is good for Iraq and achieving the aspirations of its honorable people, praising the strong relations linking the State of Kuwait with the Republic of Iraq and stressing the importance of the common aspiration towards strengthening these ties between the two brotherly countries and upgrading the frameworks Joint cooperation between them in various fields.
While British Foreign Secretary James Clevery offered his congratulations to the president-elect, and said in a tweet seen by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "I look forward to working together to strengthen our relations and help build a strong, independent Iraq and a prosperous future for the Iraqi people.".
US Ambassador to Baghdad Alina Romanowski confirmed in a tweet followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), "Looking forward to a cooperative relationship with the newly elected Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid and Prime Minister-designate Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani to continue working together side by side through the new government in order to create jobs, combating climate change, and ensuring the enduring defeat of ISIS.
In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), German Ambassador Martin Jaeger also congratulated Abdul Latif Rashid on his election as President of the Republic, and Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani assigning him to head the new Iraqi government, wishing them success in their tasks and stressing that "Germany stands ready to support our Iraqi friends.".
The French embassy in Iraq also congratulated Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani on his nomination to the post of Prime Minister, expressing its willingness to "work closely with him.".
The French embassy called for "the formation of a government that responds to the legitimate demands of the Iraqi people with all its components and the youth in particular," pointing out that "France will provide it with all its support to strengthen Iraqi institutions, strengthen the role of the state, and work with it to achieve security and stability in the region, which is Iraq" One of its pillars is a sovereign and a player of calm and balance.”
