Nabih Berri: We look forward to strengthening cooperation relations with Iraq

     The Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Nabih Berri, congratulated today, Friday, the election of Abdul Latif Rashid as President of Iraq and the assignment of Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani to form the new government, while affirming his aspiration to strengthen cooperation relations with Iraq in various fields.

    Berri said in a congratulatory telegram to the President of the Republic, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "In my personal name, on behalf of the Parliament and on behalf of the Lebanese people, I would like to extend to your Excellency my warmest congratulations and congratulations for the confidence that the members of the Iraqi Parliament granted you by electing you as President of the sisterly Republic of Iraq.".

    He added, "While I wish Your Excellency success in performing your new constitutional duties, we look forward with great confidence towards establishing more fraternal relations, cooperation and coordination between Lebanon and Iraq in various fields for the benefit of our two brotherly countries and peoples.".

    Berri also telegraphed to Al-Sudani, congratulating him on his assignment to form the Iraqi government and said: "I am pleased, on my own behalf, on behalf of the Parliament, and on behalf of the Lebanese people, to extend my sincere congratulations to your Excellency on your choice to chair and form the Iraqi government at this current and delicate moment that brotherly Iraq in particular and our region in general is going through.".

    And he continued: "When I ask God - the Almighty - for success and success in assuming this historical responsibility in leading Iraq towards more strength, strength, unity, leadership and stability, we take it as an occasion to renew our readiness and aspiration to work together towards consolidating the bonds of cooperation and coordination in visions and positions in various fields. For what is in the interest of our two brotherly countries and peoples, and first and foremost, for what is in the interest of our nation in its honor, dignity, strength, stability and progress.
