The resigned Speaker of the House of Representatives, Muhammad Al-Halbousi, confirmed today, Monday, that he did not discuss the decision to resign from the presidency of the House of Representatives with the leaders of the political blocs.
Al-Halbousi said within the events of the Al-Rafidain Forum for Dialogue, in a speech followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the parliament session was supposed to be held on the 20th of this month, and Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi suggested postponing it."
He added, "I did not discuss my resignation decision with the leaders of the political blocs and colleagues," noting that "the positions are assigned and everyone should be aware of the sensitivity of the stage."
Al-Halbousi continued, "My resignation from the presidency of the parliament not related to the Triple Alliance," adding, "I do not prevent any person from running for the presidency of the House of Representatives."
"The relationship must be normal between the political forces after it was marred by many crises," adding, "I will not impose my presence on politicians, and the request for resignation does not obstruct the parliament session next Wednesday." Al-Halbousi said.
He pointed out that "one of the reasons for my resignation from my position is the transition from the political majority to the administration of the state by consensus," noting that "the tripartite alliance has a political vision, but it did not reach the presentation of the government program."

Al-Halbousi pointed out that "demonstration is a constitutionally guaranteed right, and the House of Representatives defended not entering the Judicial Council," explaining that "the House of Representatives does not have the authority to issue arrest warrants against anyone."
"Efforts must be made for reconciliation, and just elections  are not enough, and the political blocs must agree," noting that "the ceilings must be reduced to reach an understanding." Al-Halbousi said.
