    Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein stressed the need to raise the level of relations between Baghdad and Berlin.

    A statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated that "the Minister of Foreign Affairs met with German Foreign Minister Annallina Berbock, on the sidelines of the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly at its 77th session held in New York, and during the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, and prospects for strengthening them to serve the interests of both countries . "

    Hussein expressed, according to the statement, "thanks and appreciation for Germany's supportive stances for Iraq," explaining: "We affirm our thanks to Germany for standing with Iraq, supporting us in our battle against ISIS, our support at the United Nations, providing humanitarian aid, and logistical support for the security forces."

    He added, "Iraq still needs your support, especially that you have experience in rebuilding your cities that were devastated by wars, as well as your experience in the field of economic advancement," expressing: "Iraq's emphasis on upgrading relations between the two countries to higher levels, and we hope to open up various horizons." Economic, commercial and energy cooperation, and ways to confront the repercussions of climate change between the two countries.

    He stressed "the necessity of security and intelligence coordination, especially in the field of combating terrorism, and eliminating its intellectual incubators."

    For her part, the German Foreign Minister expressed "the importance of developing bilateral relations between the two countries in all fields," adding that "Berlin confirms its commitment to supporting Iraq at all levels."
