The Iraqi National Security Service INSS announced Thursday the arrest of 13 terrorists in Kirkuk.
A statement by INSS, which was received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "the detachments of INSS managed in Kirkuk governorate, and by setting up ambushes, to arrest nine terrorists who were planning to launch terrorist attacks targeting citizens and security forces."
It added, "A force from the Service in the same governorate, according to the judicial notes, was also able to arrest four other terrorists who worked within the so-called Islamic Police and the Diwan of Soldiers and participated in targeting several security sites."
It stressed that "the statements of all the accused were written down and referred to the competent judicial authorities to receive their just punishment for the crimes they committed."
