General Secretariat of the Cabinet confirmed on Monday, that non-governmental organizations operating in the country submit reports to the NGOs Department for their final accounts specifying the sources of funding and expenditures.
"The 2010 NGOs Law No. 12 determined the path of the NGOs operating in Iraq, and all organizations adhere to this law,” highlighted the secretariat's spokesman, Haider Majeed to the Iraqi News Agency – INA.
Majeed explained that "after 2003, the issue of voluntary teams appeared before the issuance of the law and the establishment of the Non-Governmental Organizations Department. These organizations provided many communities, medical, health, legal services and programs in all fields, as they supported citizens in all crises. There was also a joint work for the Iraqi government and state institutions with these organizations.”
"The law obliges organizations to determine the mechanism or method for obtaining funds from donors, as well as submitting monthly and quarterly reports to the NGOs Department for the final accounts specifying where the money came from and where it was spent," he noted.
