Independent High Electoral Commission IHEC denied setting a date for early elections.

The spokesperson for IHEC, Jumana Al-Ghalay, told the Iraqi News Agency INA, that "the Commission is a neutral professional institution that implements decisions issued regarding elections, referendums and other matters related to electoral work."

She added, "The Board of Commissioners is the supreme authority in the Electoral Commission, and it is concerned with setting the date or time period required to conduct any electoral process in consultation with the government based on the effective election law," noting that "the Board of Commissioners did not issue any decision or statement in this regard."

Al-Ghalay stated that "regarding the electoral budget, it usually has a special budget, which may be with the federal budget or allocated individually, and this needs legislation, and the possibility of holding elections or not, or whether they are ready or not, is up to the Board of Commissioners."
