Saudi FM: Iraq has an important role in advancing the Saudi-Iranian talks

    The Saudi Foreign Minister, Faisal bin Farhan, affirmed today, Saturday, that Iraq has an important role in advancing the Saudi-Iranian talks.  

    Farhan said in the final statement of Jeddah Summit for Security and Development, which was followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the leaders discussed many important topics, most notably regional security, global food security, economic integration between the countries of the region, the electrical connection between Iraq and the Gulf Cooperation Council, navigation security and global challenges. related to climate.

    He added, "The Kingdom's hand is extended to Iran, and we are keen to find a path to reach normal relations with neighboring Iran, and this is linked to finding understandings that address all sources of concern for countries in the region regarding some Iranian activities.".

    He pointed out that "the talks that have taken place so far are positive, but have not yet reached the desired results," noting that "Iraq had an important and fundamental role in pushing the negotiations forward in a way that makes us able to continue with these talks, and we hope to witness some positive developments in the future.".

    Bin Farhan added, "Saudi Arabia is committed to searching for appropriate understandings, and we look forward to Iran being in the same spirit, and we are optimistic about that," noting that "the effort made by Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi is remarkable and we commend him." 
    Saudi FM also stated, "There is nothing known as the Arab NATO, and I do not know where this name came from, and the matter was not raised at the summit."
