Defense Industries Commission announced Wednesday the production of the “Saqr 1” drone, while indicating it began flying in the skies of Iraq.
The head of the DIC, Muhammad Sahib Al-Daraji, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "There is a great development in the military industries, including mortar bombs and drones," noting that "the commission produced an Iraqi drone type (Saqr 1) that the final experiment of it will be launched in the presence of the joint operations ".
He clarified, "The height of this type of drone is 4 km and the distance in which it flies is about 30 km," noting that "the military industries will produce the (Al-Rafidain) rifle."
Al-Darraji indicated that "experiments were conducted for the first batch of pistols," noting that "this industry has a security and economic benefit, because in terms of security, it will be from the aspect of national security because Iraq will be a manufacturer of its weapons inside the country, and from an economic point of view providing hard currency due to the reduction in imports in addition to these pistols are cheaper than importing."
