Prime Minister's advisor Hussein Allawi confirmed today, Monday, that Iraq is adopting a policy of diplomatic balance and playing a pivotal role in the region, and its initiatives have strengthened the international community's confidence in the government.
Allawi told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Iraq is playing today, through productive diplomacy and the policy of balance that it manages through foreign policy, a pivotal role in the region and has become a real attraction station on the ground for both the regional and international community," indicating that "Iraq's initiative towards Gaza, Lebanon, Syria and others and the approach of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani have strengthened the international community's confidence in the government."
He added that "Iraq supports the stability of Syria and the preservation of the rights of its people and is making efforts and consultations in this regard with all leaders of the world as well as the foreign and defense ministers who visit Iraq."
Allawi continued, "Iraq is an independent state in itself and its external movements are completely independent and it deals with Arab and regional issues through cooperation, dialogue and partnership, and this is what we noticed during the visits led by the Prime Minister as well as strategic communications."
He stated, "The balance between domestic and foreign policies is a strategic goal that the Prime Minister is committed to, and this is what he previously spoke about on this subject clearly," noting that "Iraq today is stable and moving forward and attracting the world towards it towards regional issues, especially what concerns us in Syria, as well as confronting terrorism and the security challenges that may be on the Iraqi-Syrian border," explaining, "The state of security alert of the security forces prevented Iraq from slipping into an open war and preserved the stability of the Iraqi state and its national interests."
Regarding Iraq's efforts to combat terrorism, Allawi stated that "Iraq's approach over the past two years has focused on the threat of terrorism by killing important leaders in the terrorist organization and eliminating the sources of terrorism. We have achieved very advanced goals through the Joint Operations Command and the follow-up of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, in addition to the targeting cell that brings together all intelligence agencies."
He explained that "our relationship with the international coalition comes within the framework of fighting the terrorist organization and continuing the exchange of intelligence information."
