He added, "The file of the marshes includes both cultural and environmental aspects, as the Ministry of Environment is responsible for the water file in cooperation with Turkey and Iran," noting that "the water levels are supposed to remain at its current level and preserve it, because its drought will put the country in front of the problem of removing the marshes from the World Heritage List." ".
Regarding the presence of a UNESCO letter to remove the marshes, Al-Elayawi affirmed that "the ministry has not yet received formal officially from UNESCO to remove the marshes from the World Heritage List."
He added, "The ministry denies what was reported by some media and news websites during the past days about the presence of the letter, as this matter is inaccurate and untrue."
