General Authority of Customs announced Thursday the launch of the electronic connection process in customs centers, stressing that the electronic connection will greatly reduce corruption and fraud and will maximize the revenues of the state treasury.
A statement by the authority, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "for implementing the directives of the General Secretariat of the cabinet and with direct follow-up by the Director General of the General Authority of Customs, Shaker Mahmoud Al-Zubaidi, work on electronic connectivity has been started and in coordination with the Border Ports Authority, the Industrial Development Directorate and the Investment Authority access to e-governance.
The statement added, "Through intensifying efforts in this field in the recent period and in continuous cooperation with the Border Ports Authority, which led to the acceleration of electronic connection at customs centers."
He pointed out that "electronic connection will greatly reduce corruption and forgery and will reflect positively on the customs work, thus maximizing the revenues of the state treasury."
