Baghdad Operations Command revealed on Friday, the plan for the days of Eid, while confirming that the security forces have been put on high alert throughout the country.
Baghdad Operations Commander Lieutenant-General Ahmed Salim told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The plan for the days of the blessed Eid will be an extension to the plan of Ramadan month," noting that "there is a plan that was prepared for the days of Ramadan and relates to the days of the blessed Eid al-Fitr, and it will focus on recreational areas, markets and restaurants".
Selim stressed that "The security units in Baghdad will be put on alert on the first day of the next month so that there will be a sufficient number of affiliates to quickly cover places, including cemeteries, and secure the Eid prayer, and this alert will continue until the fifth of May," noting that "the security work in North and south of Baghdad will continue, as well as in the areas of the Baghdad belt in Rashidiya and Nahrawan, which includes inspections and updating intelligence information".
He added, "The security forces in the Sixth Division managed two days ago to kill a large prominent of the ISIS terrorist gangs called Muhammad Saddam al-Mashhadani, in addition to killing a suicide bomber who was with him in Tarmiyah area, according to information from the intelligence agencies operating in the area."
He pointed out that "There is information confirming the presence of suicide bombers seeking to target markets and crowded places," stressing that " monitoring plan is implemented by the security and intelligence agencies operating within the sector of responsibility."
