Electricity clarifies thе details of the Iraqi-Iranian agreement to end the gas crisis

    The Ministry of Electricity clarified
    the details of its agreement with Iran to end the gas crisis, stressing that it included timings for paying debts through installments, while contingent implementation of the funds allocated to paying debts within the emergency support law.

    A spokesman for the Ministry of Electricity, Ahmed Musa, told Al-Iraqiya News, and it was followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the Ministry of Electricity has formed a permanent operations room headed by the minister, with field tours to production lines in order to raise the level of work, overcome obstacles and solve all field problems.".

    He added, "The ministry hopes to add 4,000 megawatts with the entry of additional obstetric units, to raise production to 25,000 megawatts in the summer, and broken transmission lines have been repaired since 2013 and will enter mid-May to support the national system.".

    He pointed out that "the issue of fuel provision was sponsored by the Prime Minister, and during Minister Adel Karim's visit to Iran, the required quantities of gas were determined, and he stressed the need to adhere to the contract signed by the two sides, and a good understanding occurred between them.".

    He stressed that "the visit concluded very positive agreements and understandings, according to which the dates and timings of the financial payments required to pay the debts were presented by the minister, and the Iranian side expressed its understanding.".

    He pointed out that "the visit focused on raising the volume of gas supplied to Iraq and its releases sufficient for the Iraqi need, and paying the amounts of debts that were included in the emergency support bill, and we hope to speed up the vote on it in order to pay the required amounts.".

    Earlier, the Minister of Electricity, Adel Karim, confirmed that an Iraqi-Iranian agreement had been obtained during his visit to Tehran to re-pump gas to the required quantities with the payment of debts.
