The Ministry of Transport explained the reasons for the increase in air traffic over Iraq, while stressing that the federal aviation considers Iraqi airspace safe and suitable for international companies.
The spokesman for the Ministry of Transport, Hussein Jalil, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The noticeable increase in the number of aircraft crossing Iraqi airspace, which exceeded 450 aircraft per day, compared to the same period last year, is a result of the directives and field follow-up of the Minister of Transport, in addition to the quality of the navigational services provided by The employees of the General Company for Air Navigation Services, especially the air traffic controllers in the air control units, and their commitment to the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and their high concern for the safety of Iraqi airspace to become a safe corridor linking the east of the earth to its west.
He continued, "The number of aircraft transiting Iraqi airspace reached more than 450 aircraft per day, compared to the same period last year, which was 250 aircraft, after the FAA, through multiple meetings, announced by it the lifting of the NOTAM pilots' announcement of the Iraqi airspace. He considered the high altitudes from above 32,000 feet as safe and suitable for the passage and transit of international airlines in Iraqi airspace, which increased air traffic and increased the financial return to the company, the ministry and the state treasury.
