The First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hakim Al-Zamili, pledged to follow up the issue of petrodollars for the oil-producing governorates.
The media office of the Deputy Speaker of Parliament stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the first deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Hakim Al-Zamili, received in his office the Governor of Wasit Muhammad Jamil Al-Mayahi, in the presence of the deputies of the province, to discuss problems, and develop solutions to advance the service reality of Wasit," calling them to work in the spirit of one team, away from partisan affiliations and pressures, to provide the service that the people of the governorate are waiting for.
According to the statement, Al-Zamili expressed his readiness to coordinate the necessary with the executive authorities regarding obtaining financial benefits and equitable distribution of electric energy to all governorates, especially Wasit governorate, pledging to follow up the issue of petrodollars for the oil-producing governorates, and to conduct a close visit to the governorate to stand with the people of Wasit and the governorate in a way that contributes to dissolving all existing obstacles .
For his part, the governor of Wasit, and representatives of the province in the House of Representatives, demanded that the province have its own oil company (Wasit Oil Company), and support the province by giving a greater role to the local government because of the province's strategic importance.
