Oil Products Distribution Company - OPDC denied any new increase in kerosene prices.
"In response to what was stated in a satellite channel report on the increase in the prices of petroleum products, the Oil Products Distribution Company would like to clarify to the public opinion and those interested the facts of the matter for the decision to partially increase the "black oil" fuel, which some satellite channels, the affected parties, and those who trade in black oil fuel are trying to confuse facts to serve their interests," stated the company in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.
The statement included that "the decision to increase the prices of oil fuel, "black oil" supplied to asphalt factories, does not mean canceling government support for them, but rather maintaining a support rate exceeding (70%) with the new prices," pointing out that "the new price supplied of the black oil for asphalt plants, it constitutes only (30%), of the price of one ton in global markets, according to the approved bulletin,"
OPDC denied any new increase in the prices of fuel gas (kerosene) for residential generators, stressing that "the prices will be maintained for this segment that provides direct services to citizens,"
"Prices variables in the global oil market push the government oil sector to equalize prices between local and abroad to limit smuggling operations," according to the statement.
The company called on the media and satellite channels to "rely its reports with accurate information and not be satisfied with the phrases (confirmed by experts and experts say) without identifying who confirmed and who indicated and what are the limits of their understanding of the subject," indicating that "it reserves its legal right against any party that tries to prejudice economic security and harm the public interest as the company's management will firmly confront all attempts that offend the company's employees,"
