The Media Office of the Russian Samara University announced that university scientists have created a sustainable and Green Engines (SAGE) alternatives to kerosene, which will help reduce the emission of carcinogens to the atmosphere .

The office statement indicates, "University scientists have been able to create alternatives to kerosene used in aircraft engines, better than its foreign counterparts, and this innovation will help create environmentally friendly aircraft engines that emit less carcinogens into the atmosphere."

According to the statement, the researchers selected in their study TS-1 kerosene (the foreign analogue of Jet-A) widely used in civil aviation and transport aviation as a real primary fuel, and in the course of research and experiments, they developed a detailed kinematic mechanism that includes the pathways for the formation of carcinogenic polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.

(PAHs) and nitrogen oxides consisting of 597 substances and nearly 12,000 reactions.

As a result, the researchers obtained two options of kerosene alternatives, and after testing them, it became clear that their properties are better than those of traditional kerosene, and that they are better than their foreign analogues.

Sergey Matveyev, senior researcher at the Academic Scientific Center for Gas Dynamics Research at the university, says, "It was evident from the results of the comparison of the concentration of combustion products of conventional kerosene and the combustion of its alternatives, that both alternatives showed good compatibility with real fuels in terms of the main components of the products of complete combustion of carbon oxides and non-hydrocarbons. Burnt, as the maximum deflection did not exceed 20%.
