Independent MP Hussein Arab revealed on Monday, an upcoming meeting of independent MPs regarding the presidential election session scheduled for next Saturday.
"The independent MPs will hold a meeting to study the invitation of the Sadrist movement leader, Sayyed Muqtada al-Sadr, to attend the session of electing the president of the republic," praising Sayyed al-Sadr's invitation, Arab told the Iraqi News Agency – INA.
He pointed out that "the independent MPs will determine their position on next Saturday's session during the upcoming meeting,"
For his part, the independent MPs, Adnan Al-Jabri, indicated to INA, that "the independent MPs set a precondition to grant them the right of participating in naming the prime minister-designate; otherwise they will not be a part to the nomination,"
Earlier, Sayyed al-Sadr, called on Monday, for independent MPs to assign the voting session to the President of the Republic.
Al-Sadr asserted the need to leave consensus crises and move on with majority choice.
