The Ministry of Agriculture announced today, Saturday, launching the activities of the Thirteenth Agricultural Week on Baghdad International Fairground, while confirming that the Prime Minister will consider the decisions of the Emergency Cell.
Minister of Agriculture, Mohammad Karim al-Khafaji, said in a press conference attended by the reporter of the Iraqi News Agency (INA): Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi indicated that he will consider the decisions of the emergency cell, including subsidizing fertilizers and returning the same amounts of support through the Diwaniyah Order Committee headed by the Minister of Planning, as the approval of the Ministerial Economy and Investment Committee was obtained.
He added that "Iraq has reached self-sufficiency for 12 agricultural crops, due to the efforts of farmers and Ministry's plans to support the local product, despite the fact that the 2021 budget did not have enough support for the agricultural sector and caused lifting of support for fodder, affirming that the process of re-supporting the agricultural sector will renewed to protect food security.
