PM: Iraq supports all efforts to reduce tension between Ukraine and Russia

    The Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi expressed his support for all efforts to reduce tension between Ukraine and Russia.

    The media office of the Prime Minister stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Al-Kadhimi received the Chargé d'Affairs of the Ukrainian Embassy in Iraq, Alexander Borvzhnikov."

    He explained, "During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, the effects of the military operations taking place between Russia and Ukraine, and their repercussions on the humanitarian level, and on international peace and security, as well as their major economic effects on the countries of the world, including Iraq."

    Al-Kadhimi expressed, "Iraq's concern about developments between Russia and Ukraine, the deterioration of the humanitarian situation there, and the importance of resorting to more dialogues that would defuse the crisis, and in a manner that preserves the security and safety of the Ukrainian people, and the rest of the peoples of the region."

    The Prime Minister also indicated, "Iraq has suffered a lot, due to the scourge of wars and unacceptable attacks on civilian facilities," noting that "it supports all efforts that seek to reduce tension, end military operations, work for calm and restraint, and respect the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations." 

    The statement continued, "The conditions of the Iraqi community in Ukraine were discussed, and the necessary measures to continue providing services to them in this exceptional circumstance."
