Ministry of Health announced Wednesday that the fourth wave of Corona has begun to recede, while it issued a new warning about the virus.

The ministry’s spokesman, Saif Al-Badr, said in a statement to Al-Iraqiya News channel, which was followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “Iraq has passed the peak of the fourth wave, which is now in decline, but this does not mean that the threat of the pandemic has disappeared, as there is a possibility for the emergence of new waves of the Corona virus.” He called for "the need to seriously adhere to preventive measures and to receive full doses of the vaccine."

He added that "the critical cases are 72, and this number is less than it was months ago in the third wave, which is considered one of the most difficult waves that passed through the country," noting that "the clinical capacities are in the thousands, and there are beds designated for critical cases."

Al-Badr stressed that "the preparations are continuing, and the health institutions are ready to deal with any variable of the emergence of a new wave or critical or medium cases that need to be hospitalized," expecting "the emergence of new mutations of corona."

Regarding receiving the vaccine, Al-Badr stated, "The rate of receiving vaccines is below the required level, as we aspire to reach the largest number of recipients of the vaccine," explaining that "the proportion of recipients of the vaccine has so far reached 10,160,000 people who received the first dose and more than half of them received the two doses." As for the third dose, it is below the required level."
