The Iraqi News Agency (INA) discussed today, Saturday, , in an interview with the Minister of Transport, Nasser Al-Shibli, 6 important files including inaugurating Kirkuk Airport, imposing fees on planes that cross Iraqi airspace and the transit fees of trucks, in addition to revealing the trespassing on railways and the project of fencing Railroad.
Al-Shibli told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): " Kirkuk Airport is not affiliated with the Ministry of Transport, but rather to the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority, and we in the Ministry of Transport have contracted with the investor for a long time when the airlines were affiliated with us," noting that "inaugurating of Kirkuk Airport depends on the decision by the Civil Aviation Authority after completing the requirements.”
He pointed out that "During the current war between Ukraine and Russia, the number of planes in Iraq increased to 450," stressing that "the fees collected from the passage of planes in Iraqi airspace amount to 450 dollars per plane, and this amount is good and the state budget will be supplemented with it, that "the number of aircraft began to increase due to lack of air traffic during the Covid-19 period."
Shipwrecks and Railways
Al-Shibli indicated that " lifting of the Shipwrecks depends on the decision of the Council of Ministers, and a request has been submitted in order to lift them successively, not completely," stressing that "in the coming days, the ministry will obtain the decision to lift them."
Regarding the railways between Al-Shibli, “trespassing are increasing dramatically on the railways in the dense areas where there the commercial and industrial stores and houses are very close to the rail ways , and this prevents the train from passing because it affects and harms the citizens, as several accidents occurred because of that case, therefore the Ministry has taken the decision to fence railways danger zone, and the project is going well, as the project has almost been completed in Baghdad.”
He stressed that there are plans in the future to operate a new railroad connects Fao with Turkey, and this will be new step, that will be conducted by an Italian company."
Al-Shibli continued that "The ministry inagurated about a month ago the first garage in the city of Nasiriyah, which is very good one, and the foundation stone was laid in a number of other garages, and soon Najaf garage, as well as Mosul garage, will be inagurated, and there is a new plan to develop the current garages and small garages, because many of them have been closed due to Corona pandemic.

He pointed out that “River transport is available, and there are about 40 boats in Baghdad, some of which carry 30 or 40 passengers, but they stopped due to the water situation in Tigris River, and they were used to visit Imam Musa al-Kadhim, (peace be upon him)."
And he indicated that "He instructed the river taxi to start its work in Adhamiya to Al-Qishla and then develop it to reach Al-Jadriya after obtaining the fundamentalist approvals in full."
The customs
Al-Shibli indicated that "There is a committee that has a large number of state departments, including customs, finance, border ports, land transport and the police, and this committee decided that the amounts obtained from the train are about 225 or 223 dollars for the truck's passage in Iraq."
And he added, "The ministry has contracted with a company to put a GPS on the wheel or for all trucks that pass on Iraqi roads and to their last destination, whether they are neighboring countries or to Baghdad, and this will enter into force with next week, as for transit purposes, will be after that."
