The Ministry of Health resolved the controversy over its intention to give a dose to children under 12 years of age, while noting that the delay in approving the budget did not affect the receipt of vaccine doses for the current year.

The Director of Public Health, Riyad Abdul-Amir, said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the proportion of recipients of the vaccine reached 25 percent of the community," noting that "there is no intention of the ministry to grant a dose of vaccine to children under 12 years old."

He added that "the delay in approving the budget does not affect the receipt of vaccine doses, as the ministry has sufficient commitments for the current year and according to the percentage of citizens' demand for the vaccine."

He added, "The contracted quantities of vaccine are sufficient, and if the turnout of citizens increases, the ministry may need to contract for other quantities."
