Iraq discusses Counter-Terrorism efforts in London

    Supreme Judicial Council – SJC confirmed on Monday, that its president, Judge Faiq Zeidan is going to review, during his visit to London, Iraq's efforts in Counter-Terrorism.
     
    Zaidan, made an official visit to the United Kingdom, based on an official invitation from the British Foreign Office as the visit is to include strengthening judicial relations between the two countries in order to strengthen partnership and exchange experiences in the field of building criminal capacities and enhancing legal accountability in the field of Counter-Terrorism, according to a statement by SJC received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
     
    "During the visit, a memorandum of understanding will be signed regarding the foundations of partnership between the two countries in the field of training Iraqi judges and investigators as well as, providing relevant technical assistance," included the stataement.
     
    Zidane will “review the Iraqi efforts related to counter terrorism in accordance with the applicable Iraqi judicial rules and procedures in addition to be in accordance with Iraq's obligations in international law," the statement highlighted, noting that the President of the Council was received by the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the United Kingdom Jaafar al-Sadr, a number of the embassy staff and a number of Diplomats working at the British Embassy in Baghdad.
