The US embassy in Russia called on its citizens to have plans to leave the country, referring to the threat of attacks in Moscow and on the Russian border with Ukraine, which raised the astonishment of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
There are threats of attacks on shopping centers, railway and metro stations and other public gathering places in major urban areas, including Moscow and Saint Petersburg, as well as in areas of heightened tension on Russia's border with Ukraine," the embassy said.
Review your personal security plans... so that you have plans to leave, and don't rely on US government assistance," the embassy added.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova asked whether the United States had passed information on possible attacks to Russia.
