Iraq congratulates Serbia on its national day

The Republic of Iraq congratulated on Friday, the Republic of Serbia, government and people of Serbia, on the occasion of its national day while praising its desire to contribute to the reconstruction and stabilization of the country.

The Minister Plenipotentiary and Head of the Europe Department, Tariq Adel Al-Shaher, said in a speech during the Serbian National Day ceremony, which was attended by the correspondent of the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "In the name of the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its Minister, and in the name of the government and people of Iraq, we congratulate the government and people of the Republic of Serbia on the National Day," expressing the "His appreciation for the friendship ties between the two countries.".

Al-Shaher stressed, "Iraq's keenness to continue efforts and work in order to move forward to strengthen bilateral relations and promote fruitful cooperation in various fields for the benefit of the two peoples," praising the "steadfast position of the Republic of Serbia in respecting Iraq's sovereignty and territorial integrity and standing by it permanently in its efforts to combat Terrorism and its desire to contribute to the reconstruction and achieve security and stability.".

He pointed out that "the relations between the two countries have witnessed a great development through building bridges and communication between officials of the two countries, represented by the visit of the Iraqi Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein last year and his meeting with many officials in the Serbian government and visits at the level of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which resulted in positive understandings and the signing of memorandums of understanding that serve In the interests of both countries and peoples.
