Talks between Putin and Scholz begin in Moscow

Talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz began in Moscow on Tuesday as part of weeks of diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tension between Russia and the West over Ukraine .

"Unfortunately, we will devote a large part of our time today to issues related to the situation in Europe and security and to ongoing discussions on this issue," Putin said at the start of the talks .
