Iraqi Meteorological Organization and Seismology-IMOS- confirmed on Thursday that an earthquake hit Badra district in Wasit province.
IMOS said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the quake was recorded at exactly 09:18:09 this morning, local time, with a magnitude of 3.5 degrees and 21 km southeast of Badra district in Wasit Governorate, adding that “It was not felt by the citizens of the area”.
According to the statement, IMOS called on "citizens to stay away from rumors and false news, and to adhere the seismic recommendations issued by the General Authority for Meteorology and Seismic Monitoring."
