Ministry of Transport announced Sunday that an earthquake was recorded in Makhmour district, Nineveh Governorate.
A statement by the ministry, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "the seismic observatories in the General Authority for Meteorology and Seismic Monitoring recorded an earthquake at dawn this day in Makhmour district of Nineveh Governorate."
The statement explained that, "The earthquake was recorded at 05:55:02 in the morning local time, with a magnitude of (3.4) and it is located 7.2 km west of Makhmour district in Nineveh Governorate, noting that "the citizens felt it in Region".
The statement called on "citizens to be vigilant, to stay away from rumors and false news, and to abide by the seismic recommendations issued by the General Authority for Meteorology and Seismic Monitoring."
