Iraqi Football Association announced on Moday, the approval of the Olympic team’s participation in the Dubai International Cup.
"It was decided to agree to participate in Dubai Cup under the age of 23, which will be held on the 23rd, next March in Dubai, UAE," stated the Federation, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
Ghanim Oreibi, a member of the Football Association, who supervises the Olympic team said that "Dubai Cup is a good opportunity to prepare our team in the best way with the participation of eight teams in it, namely the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, Croatia, Vietnam, Thailand and China, along with our Olympic team,"
"Our team will play three matches on the 23rd, 26th and 29th, next March, and the tournament matches are a real opportunity for the technical staff to determine the levels of players, especially professionals residing outside the country," Oreibi added.
He pointed out that "the Olympic team entered earlier in a training camp in the Turkish city of Antalya, and played three friendly matches, and it was an opportunity to test a number of players. Therefore, Dubai Cup will be an important station to know the players' levels before entering the Asian Cup competitions for teams under 23 hosted by Uzbekistan next June, 1st,”
