The Minister of Electricity in charge, Adel Karim, and the Qatari Minister of Petroleum and Energy, Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, discussed the possibility of supplying gas to Iraq.
Ministry of Electricity said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the Minister of Electricity in charge, Adel Karim, discussed during his visit to the State of Qatar with the Qatari Minister of Petroleum and Energy Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi the possibility of supplying Qatari gas to Iraq to address and fill the shortage of gas to maintain the momentum of the production stations' operation."
"During the visit, all logistical issues necessary for the supply of gas through the Qatari ports to Iraq's ports were discussed," noting that "the Qatari side expressed its readiness after a detailed explanation provided by the Minister of Electricity about the reality of the work of the electric power system in Iraq."
The statement added "This matter requires quick measures and consolidation of efforts by the ministries of oil, transport, finance and everyone with electricity to complete this vital and important project."
