A regional workshop discussed today, Friday, the legal framework to guarantee the rights of girls and Yazidis in Iraq.
The General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "a workshop for strengthening legal frameworks for women and girls survivors of violence in Arab countries affected by armed conflicts and wars and their repercussions was concluded, and lasted for two days.
The regional workshop, which was hosted by Iraq, was reviewed Six Arab countries (Libya, Sudan, Yemen, Palestine, Lebanon and the Arab Women Organization) participated in it, the experiences of countries according to a participatory approach with regard to empowering women and girls who are victims of violence during conflicts and their repercussions.
In its sessions, the workshop focused on the legal framework to ensure the rights of women, girls and Yazidis in Iraq, the rights and needs of survivors of gender-based violence, the situation of women in conflict contexts in the Arab States region and the national legal framework for policy actions to eliminate gender-based violence in Iraq and sharing experience The World Health Organization in dealing with women and girls who suffered from violence resulting from wars of armed conflicts, in addition to Iraq's experience in the possibility of launching an electronic application (Your Security) with the support of the United Nations Population Fund.
At the end of the workshop, certificates of appreciation were distributed among the participants, in appreciation of the efforts they made in defining the axes of the presented working papers, which focused on identifying the gaps and addressing them in proportion to the political and social reality and other areas of each country.
