North Refineries Company announced on Monday, that the refining capacity of Qayyarah Refinery has reached six thousand barrels per day, confirming the monitoring of environmental determinants and conducting daily examinations for products, gases and industrial water in the refinery.
“Qayyarah refinery is designed to produce asphalt that conforms to standard specifications, as well as produces heavy gas oil, a mixture of light gas oil and Naphthalene," said the General Director of the General Company for North Refineries, Qassim Hussein, to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), adding that "the refinery has two operating units currently, which are the third and fourth, and a refining capacity of 6000 barrels per day, as it continues to supply the above products to government companies and private sector companies through the Oil Products Distribution Company,”
Hussein noted, "There are no technical problems in the refinery, as the engineering staff continue to operate and maintain the units, as well as monitor the environmental parameters and conduct tests for products, gases and industrial water on a daily basis by the inspection and monitoring divisions, safety and firefighting, in addition to having high coordination with Nineveh Environment Department and the Northern Region Environment Department for they make periodic visits to assess the environmental reality of the refinery,”
He pointed out that "Qayyarah refinery is one of the refineries dedicated to the production of asphalt and works on Qayyarah crude oil. The refinery was established in 1953 and was developed later by adding production units to become 4 units,"
