A security operation to clear the Eastern Basin of Adhaim River in Diyala has been launched, the Popular Mobilization Authority announced Wednesday.
"A security operation to clear the Eastern Basin of Adhaim River was launched this morning with the participation of (23rd Brigade and The Diyala Brigade in the Popular Mobilization forces), from the Adhaim Dam to the estuary of the River in the Tigris in the village of Safit," Diyala Operations Commander Talib al-Musawi said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
"The participating brigades took control south of the Numan crossing towards the estuary of the river in the Tigris” he said.
"The operation is aimed at preventing the infiltration of the enemy and tightening the cordon on it, as well as raiding and searching for ISIS hideouts and the operation will continue for two days until its planned objectives are achieved," he said.
