INA- Baghdad The Parliament’s Speaker Muhammad Halbousi confirmed today that water issue would be his top priority when discussions occurred with Iran and Turkey in the next period. The Parliament issued a statement mentioning that Halbousi discussed with the Minister of Water Resources Hassan Janabithe water crisis Iraq faces, especially water scarcity in Basra governorate. The Speaker confirmed on the necessity of putting immediate plans for the time being, and plans for the long term to treat that crisis and solve it effectively, the statement added. Required funds must be provided to develop the irrigative status inside Iraq, and include them in the next year’s federal budget, the Speaker showed, affirming on the importance of coordination between the legislative and executive authorities to preserve the water fortunes and enlarge the agricultural areas, the statement concluded.
